A spring cable reel — a spring driven cable reel — rewinds the cable of a moving machine with an internal spiral spring. Pulling the cable tensions the spring; when the machine returns, the cable is wound back onto the drum under controlled tension. No electrical drive is required.
For short and medium travel at moderate speed this is the economical solution: the cable no longer drags on the floor, the working area stays tidy and cable life increases. In the KATO YKT series, power and signals are transmitted through a slip ring assembly with current ratings from 4 A to 200 A and multi-contact options. The steel housing is available in IP55 versions for dusty, humid and outdoor conditions.
Reels can be mounted on a wall, ceiling or floor, in horizontal or vertical axis, and work best together with a cable guide.
