Cable reel accessories solve the two problems a drum cannot solve on its own: uneven build-up of the cable on the drum, and bending stress where the cable enters the reel.
A cable guide feeds the cable onto the drum at the correct angle and keeps the layers even on wide drums, preventing the cable from piling on one side. A feed guide controls the movement of the cable at its feeding point along the track, reducing faults caused by friction and crushing.
Both products are manufactured by BM Makina Group under the KATO brand and are engineered together with the reel. Because the right guide measurably extends cable life, it should be treated as part of the reel investment rather than an optional extra.
