About this category

Energy transmission systems feed electrical power — and often data — to machines that travel along a fixed path: overhead cranes, gantry cranes, port equipment, shuttles and automated storage systems.

Four principles are used in practice. Busbar (conductor rail) systems carry current along an insulated or enclosed rail and are collected by a sliding shoe. Festoon systems carry the cable on trolleys along a track. Cable reels wind the cable on a drum. Contactless power systems (CPS) transfer energy inductively, without physical contact.

BM Makina Group engineers all four with VAHLE components, selecting the principle according to travel length, speed, current rating, duty cycle and ambient conditions of the application.
