Motorized cable reeling drums — also called motor driven cable reels — wind and unwind the cable of a travelling machine under motor-controlled tension. They are chosen over spring reels wherever travel distance is long, the cable cross-section is heavy or travel speed is high.
The KATO MKT family covers four designs: single layer (monospiral), double layer, wide winding and level wind drums. Power and signals are transmitted without interruption through a slip ring assembly while the drum rotates, and the steel body is protected by hot-dip galvanising or industrial coating.
Used on port equipment, overhead travelling cranes, construction machinery and mining or cement plants, each drum is calculated for the specific cable cross-section, travel length, speed and current rating, and manufactured at our facility in Gebze, Türkiye.
