Rugged, Interference-Free Data Communication for Harsh Outdoor Environments

Technical systems used in ports, open industrial sites or amusement parks are exposed to intense environmental conditions. For crane systems or amusement units to operate safely and continuously, their power and data transmission systems must withstand all weather conditions.

To meet this need, VAHLE developed the SMGX Data Transmission System (Slotted Microwave Guide Xtreme), an outdoor-optimized version of the proven SMGM system.

The SMGX is based on the same slotted waveguide operating principle as the SMGM, but with mechanically far more robust components and increased tolerance values. The slotted waveguide inside the shielded aluminium profile guarantees high data rates while completely blocking noise signals from the environment.

An optional heating module allows reliable outdoor wall mounting even in extreme climates, and the system can also be used in indoor facilities.

Like the SMGM, the SMGX works in full compatibility with VAHLE conductor systems, integrating with Power Transmission, Positioning and Control Systems modules to form a complete system solution. Users can also benefit from the SMG Service Tool software for system analysis and optimization.
