BM Makina’s KATO Level Wind Cable Reeling Drums are magnetic-coupling, motor driven cable winding systems developed for long-distance power and data supply to travelling cranes and machinery. They automatically wind, collect and manage low and medium voltage power cables together with control/data cables — so cables never drag on the ground or get crushed under vehicles, and the work area stays tidy and safe.

Key Features

Motorized level wind mechanism: brake asynchronous motor + magnetic coupling + gearbox keep the cable wound under control and tension at all times; during sudden starts/stops the coupling slips to protect cable and drum. Uninterrupted power via slip ring: between the rotating drum and the fixed grid, the slip ring keeps power and signals flowing while the drum turns — power, control, data and communication lines on one system. Wide winding design: multi-spiral drums for long runs and large cross-sections, up to hundreds of metres of cable when needed. High durability and corrosion protection: steel body with hot-dip galvanizing or heavy-duty industrial paint for long life in ports, mines, steel plants and open sites. Cable protection via magnetic coupling: the coupling is adjustable, so the cable stays neither slack nor over-tensioned — cable life grows notably, maintenance and replacement costs drop. High winding speeds: motor-gearbox combinations with frequency inverters safely reach high winding speeds (e.g. cranes and transfer cars). Standards-compliant production: design and manufacturing follow applicable VDE / CE / industrial safety norms with electrical and mechanical safety in focus.
